Frequently Asked Questions

Questions? We’ve got answers.

Setting Expectations

Though the final product is glamorous, the process to get there is not. Throw what you’ve learned from HGTV to the wind and we will work toward minimizing the chaos as much as we can.

When will my project begin?

The start of construction on your project will begin between projects scheduled before and after yours. Extended delays in the design phase can possibly push your construction start date to follow an already scheduled project. A setback has the potential of placing your new construction date weeks or months later.

I heard that construction can get messy. What should I expect?

Construction will be messy and loud. Dust happens and there is no getting around it. Please protect your valuables by storing them away or covering them with plastic.

Where will the H2H team park vehicles during my remodel?

We will need space for vehicles in the driveway and at the front of your home during business hours. The shorter the distance to our craftsman’s supplies and tools leads to a faster and more productive construction process.

Who do I communicate with to make changes or revisions?

To avoid a game of telephone please only communicate additions or changes with your designer. This eliminates costly confusion and miscommunication. Your designer will translate the message to the proper team members.

What about the schedule?

We use a cloud based schedule that is updated often—You will notice that completion may be scheduled earlier than your contract completion date. Please remember this is not the new date that we are promising to have your project completed. We are committed to the contract completion date but change orders and bumps along the way will add time to the schedule.

What if there is an unforeseen issue?

For every problem, there is a solution. And we will find it! Even with the stringent design, planning and proper estimating; the unforeseen can have us problem solving and finding a detour—just part of the process.

Your project is managed by professionals and we are here to help you. Construction is a collaboration between many involved parties and we are here to help eliminate the chaos and come up with solutions to problems that arise.

What is the timeframe I should expect from beginning to completion for my remodel?

Remodels are broken down into three different categories. Time frame is broken down for each based-on scope of work of the project.

Do I have an extensive remodel?

Averaging 7–10 months in total, this type of remodel consists of a complete re-design and update of your home to better suit your needs. This includes exterior, interior as well as additions. Actual time depends on the scope of your project.

Do I have a standard remodel?

Averaging 4–7 months in total, this type of remodel consists of a complete re-design of your home to better suit your needs. This includes updating the systems per city code in addition to adding/moving walls, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical. Actual time depends on the scope of your project.

Do I have a partial remodel?

Averaging 3–4 months in total. An example of this type of remodel consists of completely gutting your kitchen and adjoining rooms and replacing all of the finishes and materials. This includes updating the plumbing and electrical per city code and the time required for city inspections. Actual time depends on the scope of your project.

How long does it take to retrieve a permit?

Depending on county or city, retrieving a permit can range anywhere between 6-12 weeks depending on scope of project and city requirements.

*Note every project varies in size and scope. This is only intended as a general guideline to help set proper expectations. Your project time frame will be determined based upon your project needs and the amount of work required to complete.

Tech Integration

Our tech savvy designers will personally guide you through the entire renovation and tech integration for your project. From developing a clear concept that compliments your lifestyle, to assisting you through the design and construction phases we help you decide what technology best suits your needs.

What sort of technology is used in homes?

Tech integration throughout your home is a smart way to simplify your home and your life. Centralized tech control systems allow you to control smart appliances, smart thermostats, audio systems, video systems, media systems, lighting, high-tech security systems, gate and door access, and more from one fully integrated hand-held device.

What sort of technology is used in bathrooms?

We advise you on the features, fixtures, and technology such as soaking or whirlpool tubs, state-of-the-art tech steam showers and body sprays, hand-held shower components, heated floors, touch-less sinks, shower speakers and other technological innovative ideas.

Is there technology that is integrated with a tablet or phone?

It will no longer be necessary to get up to adjust the thermostat or check outside when you hear a noise – you will be able to control your in-home tech devices from a portable touch screen. Some tech devices even operate through your tablet or phone and can be controlled even while you are away from home.

What is the difference between plug in play and integrated technology?

Plug and play technology automatically identifies add-on devices. Ideally, you connect your device, and it simply works. Integrated technology needs a formal set up that is fully integrated into a feature of a home or tied into a control system.

What are some examples of plug in play technology?

Some great examples of plug in play technology are Samsung Smart Things, Amazon Echo, Nest, Lutron, and many more like minded companies. Check out our blog for more information on what these devices do.
