29 Feb Spring Cleaning Tips
Spring is in the air and that means many things, sun in the sky, flowers blooming, longer days and of course the dreaded spring cleaning. As much as we all hate it, it is something that we need to do and let’s be honest we all feel better after doing it. Here are some helpful tips to get you motivated and hopefully make your spring cleaning a little easier.
Maintaining Stainless Steel: There is nothing more irritating then streaks on your stainless steel. It is suggested to use a light wax based aerosol spray once or twice a week and wipe with a lint free cloth. The key is to not soak the surface so it doesn’t look to greasy. Also stay away from anything abrasive as you don’t want to scratch the surface.
Organizing Closets: This is probably the most rewarding of any the cleaning you will do. I would go by the two year rule. If you haven’t worn it in 2 years it has got to go! If you are unsure another idea is to take that article of clothing and face the hanger the opposite way in your closet. If the hanger is still facing that way a year from now, it might be time to go!
Cleaning Counter tops: The key to having your counters last is to seal them and of course wipe up any stains immediately. For cleaning up soap and mildew stains create a solution of half a cup of ammonia in a gallon of water. For everyday wear and tear buff small scratches with a superfine dry steel wool.
Caring for Wood Floors: Care for wood floors by placing saucers or trivets under plants to avoid water damage. Use furniture protectors to avoid scratches and be sure mop once a week with a mild soap such as Murphy’s oil.
Hopefully these ideas help you to get motivated and get out there and get to some spring cleaning!
